About me
Dr. Chaoqi Zhu, an Associate Professor at Ocean University of China (OUC), currently serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Marine Environmental Engineering (JMEE). He obtained his BSc. and Ph.D. degrees from Shandong University and Ocean University of China, respectively. Dr. Zhu’s research primarily focuses on marine engineering geology and environmental geological hazards, specifically exploring the evolutionary processes and mechanisms shaping the seabed, particularly under the influence of marine environmental fluids and shallow geological fluids.
Marine Geohazards: Exploring the Depths (Zhu et al., 2023)
Dr. Zhu has led several research projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Shandong Province Key Research and Development Program, and Shandong Provincial Natural Science Foundation. He has published dozens of papers in journals such as Engineering Geology and Applied Ocean Research, with three first-authored research works featured in Geology Today and the American Geophysical Union (AGU) journal EOS. He holds numerous intellectual property rights, including patents granted in the United States, Japan, European Union, and China.
His achievements have been recognized with awards such as the First Prize for Technological Invention from the Ministry of Education, First Prize for Technological Invention from Hainan Province, First Prize for Patents from Shandong Province, Second Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress from Hainan Province, and First Prize for Marine Science and Technology Innovation from Shandong Province. He has been honored with the Top Ten Outstanding Geological Achievements in Shandong Province and named among China’s Top Ten Geological Science and Technology Advances.
Dr. Zhu is recognized as a high-level talent in Qingdao and serves as editor-in-chief, associate editor, and editorial board member for several journals. He received the New Star Author Award for the 40th Anniversary of Marine Geology and Quaternary Geology and was supported by the China Association for Science and Technology under the National Young Elite Scientists Sponsorship Program.
